My Story

My story began with a simple yet powerful prayer. My mother, Maria Torres, once prayed that if God allowed her to become pregnant again, she would have and keep the child. Soon after, she became pregnant with me, and on June 26, 1984, after an eventful journey through New York City that ended at Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan, I was born feet first. As I grew older, I often reflected on that detail and thought that perhaps I was born that way because I was meant to dance.

My parents, Eddie and Maria Torres, were Latin dance instructors, so from the time I was a baby I was surrounded by music, rhythm, and movement. At just a year and a half old, I surprised my parents by keeping perfect timing with the clave while music played in our home. Not long after, I performed my first dance with them to “Oye Como Va” by Tito Puente. From that moment on, dance became a central part of my life. I grew up performing with my parents at community events and later trained and traveled with the Eddie Torres Latin Dance Company, performing both nationally and internationally.

While dance was the main focus of my upbringing, I also enjoyed arts and crafts from a young age. I loved creating things with my hands—painting, crafting, and even designing nail art for my own performances and for family and friends. Though performing and training in dance occupied much of my time growing up, creativity in many forms was always a part of my life. As the years passed and my faith grew deeper, I felt God leading me to continue using my gifts in new ways. Alongside my journey in dance and ministry, I began revisiting those early artistic passions and learning additional crafts such as jewelry making, knitting, and other handmade arts.

Eventually, I decided to group all of my creative passions under one brand n—bringing together the many ways God has gifted me, and inspired me to create. My hope is that these creations encourage others to embrace their own God-given gifts and use them to bring joy, beauty, and glory to God.
